BETH LAUBACHER BAUMER

FOUNDER/MANAGER

Beth was born and raised in Ventura County, CA , where she attended Santa Clara elementary school, Saint Bonaventure High School and further up north, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She has always been physically active, growing up playing soccer and other sports. She has participated in many triathlons, half marathons, one full marathon and century bike rides.

Beth studied Spanish in Granada, Spain during college and maintains her bilingual skill. After earning her bachelor of science degree in Agricultural Business with minor in Wine & Viticulture, she decided she wanted to perfect her Spanish so she moved to South America for a year.

She and her husband Ben, now live in Ventura and have been married since 2006. They have two children Donovan (2008) and Vivienne (2012). Ben is an attorney at Lowthorp Richards in Oxnard.

When Beth found out her father, Hank Laubacher, had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease around 2010, she was heartbroken. Fortunately, she remembered that her father is a fighter. Hank had seen a 60 minutes episode about how boxing can help improve the quality of life for people living with Parkinson's Disease. He then did some research and found Neuroboxing located in Agoura Hills, just up the grade from his home in Oxnard. He started taking the classes and developed a very healthy new routine. The only thing was how far the drive was. He mentioned to his daughter Beth, that they should start an affiliate Neuroboxing program in the Oxnard area.

Coach Beth gravitated to the intense training and physical challenge that boxing provided. She started training in boxing in early 2019. In September 2021, she participated in an amateur masters boxing tournament in Las Vegas.

Beth enrolled in the Neuroboxing affiliate training program in 2019. She received her Program Director and Neuroboxing Coach Certificate. Neuroboxing Fight Camp laid its roots down. In October 2019, NBFC started offering classes at Fitzone Ventura. During covid lockdown, the program sustained itself with classes on zoom. Our program now runs now live in person in two locations in Ventura County, Portside Ventura Harbor and Camarillo.

SHEILA RICHARDS

PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT, NEUROBOXING INSTRUCTOR

Sheila graduated from Cal State Northridge with a BS in Health Education followed by a degree as a
Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant. She has enjoyed a long career as a PTA and Office manager in an
Outpatient PT office as well as home health and personal training. She joined us in early 2024 and
brings with her an additional certification in LSVT^BIG for Parkinson’s and utilizes the program to help
improve balance and strength to all of her exercise clients, specifically those with movement disorders.
In her free time, she enjoys exercising, traveling, long distance walking, gardening and playtime with her
2 grandchildren.

KATIE FLORES PT, DPT, NCS

NEUROLOGICAL PHYSICAL THERAPIST, BALANCE CLASS INSTRUCTOR

Katie is originally from Illinois and grew up playing multiple sports, including college volleyball. She attended the University of Indianapolis and graduated with a BS in Human Biology in 2007 and Doctorate of Physical Therapy in May 2009. From there she moved to Tucson, AZ to start working in the acute rehab unit of St.Mary’s Hospital, where she had her first and favorite clinical rotation in school. There she fell in love working with patients who have experienced a neurologic injury, so she became Board certified in Neurologic Physical Therapy in 2012 and has maintained this certification.
Katie met her husband in Tucson and they had their first born son there. About 7 years ago they moved to Ventura since her husband is from California and wanted to return. Since then she has worked in a number of different physical therapy settings (acute care, inpatient rehab, and outpatient) mainly focusing on working with the neuro population.
Katie is an avid runner and hiker and now has 4 kids (and two dogs) so life is busy but good! In addition to her work in the clinic (currently at Kaiser Permanente and Brain Injury Center of Ventura County), Katie is a member of the Practice Committee for the Academy of Neurologic PT and has assisted in teaching a neuro PT evaluation course at California State University Northridge.
Lately Katie has become more passionate about the wellness and preventative aspect of PT and was interviewed for an article about preventative PT that was published in “Outside” magazine in August 2023. She is excited to join the Neuroboxing Fight Camp team to help enhance the quality of life for those living with a neurological condition. She loves what she does and promises to use evidence based practices along with a caring and understanding attitude, to build rapport and maximize physical function.

KRISTA FERGUSON

KICKBOXING & NEUROBOXING INSTRUCTOR

Hi, I'm Krista and I have spent my life helping others improve their health through balanced nutrition and physical exercise. I am the former Pacific Northwest Fitness champion, hold a Second Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach and Co-author of the Book Fat That Doesn't Come Back. I have been featured in several magazines and over 20 fitness videos. Most importantly, I have been coaching and developing programs to help people take control of their health for over 30 years. Why? I sincerely care about others and want to help you improve your nutrition habits so that you can prevent lifestyle diseases and live your best life. I am passionate about what I do! I am the creator of the digital accelerated weight loss program, Feel Flirty in 30. It's simple and effective. It's proven and it works! It's the same program I use to help professional boxers make weight when hundreds of thousands of dollars are on the line. I am Canadian born, but currently live in California with my two amazing daughters. I continue to coach clients in person locally and over the phone internationally.

GRACIELA CASILLAS

LOCAL LEGEND, SELF DEFENSE SEMINAR PRESENTER

Graciela Casillas is a force of resilience and empowerment, blending her unparalleled success in boxing and martial arts with a distinguished academic career. As a four-time World Champion, her name shines brightly in eight National and International Hall of Fames, including the prestigious National Boxing Hall of Fame and Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame. Notably, she made history as the first American athlete to hold simultaneous world titles in both boxing and kickboxing, breaking barriers and inspiring generations with her mastery and versatility.

Alongside her athletic triumphs, Graciela pursued academic excellence, earning dual Master of Arts degrees in Education and Physical Education. Recognized as “Woman of the Year” by California State Senator Monique Limon in 2023, her achievements transcend the boundaries of sport and academia.

Transitioning from the ring to the classroom, Graciela’s impact as an educator is profound. Having retired as a Professor and Academic Counselor from Oxnard College, she continues to enrich minds as an adjunct faculty member, imparting wisdom in disciplines ranging from escrima to jujitsu within the Kinesiology department also serves as an adjunct academic counselor within the student services department. Her dedication to academia is further evidenced by her contributions as a respected writer for Black Belt Magazine. And author of The Lioness Within, a Woman’s Self-Defense Survival Guide.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Graciela is a staunch advocate for empowerment, particularly for women. Through self-defense courses and lectures, she instills confidence and resilience, embodying the transformative power of perseverance. Graciela Casillas’s journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and empowerment, bridging the worlds of athletics and academia to inspire and uplift others on their own paths to greatness.

After college, he transitioned and fell in love with Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and continues to compete and also train in Thailand with some of the sport's top instructors and gyms. With a focus on discipline, technique, and personal growth, he creates a dynamic and empowering training environment.

Susie has been teaching yoga for about 15 years. She combines yoga and functional fitness with the intention of helping people increase their mobility, stability and balance in a safe and accessible way. Breath and presence, with an emphasis on somatic movement, are at the core of each session. Susie’s curiosity and passion about the mind body connection have made her a forever student… recent studies and certifications have included foundation training, ginastica natural, Postural Restoration Institute, oxygen advantage (breathing for yoga), steel mace flow and the Human Programme. With over 3 years of boxing training, I focus on teaching proper technique, efficient movement, and how to execute punches with control and confidence.

As a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach, I take a performance-based approach—helping clients build strength, improve conditioning, and move with intention both inside and outside the gym.

My own journey hasn’t been linear. Between injuries, surgery, and recovery, I’ve had to rebuild, adapt, and stay disciplined through setbacks—giving me a deeper understanding of how to train smart and come back stronger.

I’m especially passionate about helping women feel confident in their bodies and capable of defending themselves. My goal is to create an environment where you don’t just get a workout—you build real skill, strength, and self-trust.

My name is Elaine, and for the past twenty years, I have dedicated myself to helping individuals improve their health and fitness through a broad range of specialized skills.
Throughout my career, I have earned certifications in indoor cycling, group fitness, Personal Trainer, TRX, Zumba Strong, and Zumba Circl. These credentials have been awarded by reputable organizations including AFAA, NASM, Les Mills, and Zumba. I maintain current certifications to ensure my knowledge and abilities remain up to date within the fitness industry.
Over the years, I have used exercise programs specifically designed to support the strength and mobility of the Baby Boomer generation. My experience in tailoring fitness
routines has allowed me to address the unique needs of this age group and promote their overall wellbeing.
Teaching fitness classes and guiding others on their health journeys can be both complex and challenging. Despite the difficulties, the process is highly rewarding, especially when clients achieve their desired results and improvements.

TJ FAIRCHILD

SMARTFIT EXPERT TRAINER

TJ Fairchild is a cognitive motor training specialist who helps people improve brain function, reaction time, balance, and coordination using SMARTfit technology. He works with older adults, rehabilitation clients, and athletes to strengthen the connection between the brain and body through engaging dual task training programs.
TJ focuses on helping clients stay mentally sharp, physically capable, and confident in their daily lives.
TJ is NASM certified and Brain Health Trainer certified. He has a B.A. in Exercise Science at Cal State Northridge complimented with a strong background in performance training and martial arts, with a black belt in jiu jitsu.
TJ has worked with a wide range of populations, from older adults and rehab clients to high-level athletes. That includes experience working with Anderson Silva, the USC football team, the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as hospitals, physical therapy clinics, and performance training centers.
